2-car collision in Mississippi kills 3, injures 1

Three individuals died from injuries they suffered in a car accident in Marshall County on May 14. A fourth person involved in the wreck was injured but not seriously.

According to reports, the fatal crash happened during the early morning hours of May 14 as a car traveling on Highway 72 suddenly collided with another vehicle. Eyewitnesses at the accident scene said they thought it was a head-on collision.

First responders at the scene took the driver of one of the vehicles to Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. It was reported that he had recovered. However, the coroner who arrived at the crash site stated that the three individuals in the other vehicle died at the scene. The deceased individuals were a 21-year old man and a 17-year-old woman who were passengers, and an 18-year-old woman who was the driver. Authorities said that they have not ruled out alcohol or drugs as factors in the accident but were waiting for the results of a toxicology test.

Whenever a head-on collision occurs, especially at high speeds on busy highways, vehicle occupants are often severely injured or instantly killed. Those who have been harmed in an accident caused by a speeding, careless or drunk driver might want to consider filing a lawsuit with the assistance of a personal injury attorney. To determine liability, the attorney can use the official accident investigation report, eyewitness testimony and other evidence. Toxicology results may also be used to determine if one of the drivers involved in the crash was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
